CUSTOM APPS

Custom Shopify apps

Custom Shopify apps for what the theme and existing apps can't do, designed around how your business works and built so your team can live with them.

See our work for custom apps we’ve built, and custom integrations when the app’s job is to connect Shopify to another system.

In short

A custom Shopify app adds features and tools built for your store: on the storefront, at checkout, or inside the Shopify admin for your team. We build one when the theme, Shopify's own features and existing apps can't do the job, and keep it small enough to maintain.

Who this is for

  • Your business logic doesn't fit any app on the App Store
  • Several apps are stitched together to do one job, and it shows
  • Your team needs tools inside the Shopify admin
  • Customers need a way to buy that a standard product page can't offer

How it works

  1. 01

    Write the rule down

Every case, exception and number, in plain sentences, before anyone picks a technology.

  2. 02

    Check what exists

Native settings, Shopify Flow and existing apps first. Custom code needs a reason.

  3. 03

    Build

An app, Functions or checkout extensions, as the job needs, tested in a development store with your real data.

  4. 04

    Hand over

Monitoring, a record of how it works, and a plan for Shopify's API updates.

Work we have done

Questions

Do Shopify Functions need Shopify Plus?

For custom apps, yes: Shopify only lets Plus stores use custom apps that contain Functions. Public apps with Functions work on any plan. We check what your plan allows before choosing an approach.

Have you built custom Shopify apps?

Yes. See our work for the apps we've built and what they changed for each store.

Custom app or an existing app?

An existing app, if it does the job and doesn't slow the store down. Custom makes sense when the logic is specific to your business or several apps are doing one job between them.

Who maintains it after launch?

Agree it before building. We can maintain it, or hand it over with documentation. Shopify changes its APIs on a schedule, so someone has to own updates.

In 20 minutes we look at your store with you and say what we would check first, and whether we are the right team for it.
