Google Merchant Center + Shopify integration
- Marketplace
Connecting Google Merchant Center to Shopify comes down to three decisions: which data moves, which system owns it, and whether an existing connector is enough.
Describe your setup ↗What Google Merchant Center is
Google Merchant Center holds the product data Google uses for Shopping ads and free product listings. Products appear only if the feed and the product pages meet Google's requirements.
How we would approach Google Merchant Center with Shopify
We set up Merchant Center, with Search Console, as part of a cashmere brand's launch. The work is making three things agree: the feed, the product page and Google's rules. We connect through Shopify's Google & YouTube app, check identifiers, prices, availability, images and shipping, and fix disapprovals at the source rather than patching the feed.
What the work involves
- Merchant Center connected through the Google & YouTube app
- Identifiers, prices, availability and shipping checked against product pages
- Disapprovals fixed in Shopify, at the source
- Supplemental feeds only where Shopify can't express a field
Ways to connect Google Merchant Center and Shopify
Where these projects go wrong
- Prices or availability on the product page differ from the feed, and products get disapproved.
- Missing GTINs or brand on products that have them.
- Shipping and returns not set up in Merchant Center.
- Variant products sent as one item, or every variant sent with the same image.
Our experience
We have delivered Google Merchant Center work in client Shopify projects. Your setup still gets checked before we quote.

Questions
- Do you run Google Shopping ads?
- We set up and fix the feed and the store side. Campaign management is a separate service we'd scope or hand to your ads team.
- Why are our products disapproved?
- Merchant Center lists a reason for each one. Most are data mismatches or missing attributes, fixed in Shopify.
Before we scope the work
- Which data or customer journey needs to connect, and which system owns it?
- What access, plan features or API permissions are available?
- Does an existing connector cover the requirement, including failures and updates?
- Who will maintain the connection, and how will you know it is working?
Send your current setup and one real example of the flow you need. We'll tell you whether it can be done and what it would take.
