Vercel Speed Insights + Shopify integration
- UX Monitoring
Connecting Vercel Speed Insights to Shopify comes down to three decisions: which data moves, which system owns it, and whether an existing connector is enough.
Describe your setup ↗What Vercel Speed Insights is
Vercel Speed Insights reports Core Web Vitals from real visitors for sites hosted on Vercel.
How we would approach Vercel Speed Insights with Shopify
For a headless storefront on Vercel, Speed Insights shows which pages are slow for real visitors, not in a lab test. We use it to find the product and collection pages that need work, fix images, scripts and layout shifts, and confirm the improvement in the same report.
What the work involves
- Speed Insights enabled on the Vercel project
- Slow pages ranked by real-user metrics
- Fixes to images, scripts and layout shift
- Before-and-after comparison on the same metrics
Ways to connect Vercel Speed Insights and Shopify
Where these projects go wrong
- Optimising lab scores while real users still wait.
- Fixing the home page while product pages stay slow.
Our experience
We haven't delivered a Vercel Speed Insights project for a client yet. This page is how we would approach one, and we check access and platform limits before quoting.
Questions
- We run a normal Shopify theme. Does this apply?
- No. Speed Insights is for sites on Vercel. Theme stores use Shopify's web performance report and PageSpeed Insights.
Before we scope the work
- Which data or customer journey needs to connect, and which system owns it?
- What access, plan features or API permissions are available?
- Does an existing connector cover the requirement, including failures and updates?
- Who will maintain the connection, and how will you know it is working?
Send your current setup and one real example of the flow you need. We'll tell you whether it can be done and what it would take.
