Vercel + Shopify integration
- Hosting
Connecting Vercel to Shopify comes down to three decisions: which data moves, which system owns it, and whether an existing connector is enough.
Describe your setup ↗What Vercel is
Vercel is a hosting platform built around front-end frameworks, especially Next.js, with preview deploys for every change.
How we would approach Vercel with Shopify
Vercel is relevant when you run a headless storefront, content site or custom app beside Shopify. We confirm headless is worth it first, then set up previews so every change is reviewed before release, connect Shopify's Storefront API, and check analytics and consent across the custom front end and Shopify's checkout.
What the work involves
- A decision on theme vs headless before any build
- Preview deploys for every change
- Storefront API connection, caching and environment variables
- Analytics and consent checked across front end and checkout
Ways to connect Vercel and Shopify
Where these projects go wrong
- Headless chosen for speed alone.
- Theme-only apps lost and rebuilt.
- Tracking set up on the front end but not reconciled with checkout.
Our experience
We haven't delivered a Vercel project for a client yet. This page is how we would approach one, and we check access and platform limits before quoting.
Questions
- Vercel or Shopify Oxygen?
- Oxygen is built for Hydrogen and included with Shopify. Vercel suits teams on Next.js or already running other sites there.
Before we scope the work
- Which data or customer journey needs to connect, and which system owns it?
- What access, plan features or API permissions are available?
- Does an existing connector cover the requirement, including failures and updates?
- Who will maintain the connection, and how will you know it is working?
Send your current setup and one real example of the flow you need. We'll tell you whether it can be done and what it would take.
