Strapi + Shopify integration
- CMS
Connecting Strapi to Shopify comes down to three decisions: which data moves, which system owns it, and whether an existing connector is enough.
Describe your setup ↗What Strapi is
Strapi is an open-source headless CMS you can host yourself. Teams choose it for full control over content models and data.
How we would approach Strapi with Shopify
Strapi doesn't ship an official Shopify connector; community plugins exist, matched to Strapi's major version. We link content to Shopify products by ID or handle, fetch prices and stock from Shopify's Storefront API when pages render, and plan hosting, backups and updates, which become your responsibility.
What the work involves
- Content models linked to Shopify products by ID or handle
- Live product data fetched from Shopify, not stored in Strapi
- A community plugin chosen to match your Strapi version, or none
- Hosting, backups and upgrades planned
Ways to connect Strapi and Shopify
Where these projects go wrong
- A plugin for the wrong Strapi major version; v4 and v5 plugins aren't compatible.
- Self-hosting without backups or an upgrade plan.
- Product data copied into Strapi and left to go stale.
Our experience
We haven't delivered a Strapi project for a client yet. This page is how we would approach one, and we check access and platform limits before quoting.
Questions
- Is there an official Strapi Shopify integration?
- Not from Strapi itself. Community plugins exist; we check one is maintained before relying on it.
Before we scope the work
- Which data or customer journey needs to connect, and which system owns it?
- What access, plan features or API permissions are available?
- Does an existing connector cover the requirement, including failures and updates?
- Who will maintain the connection, and how will you know it is working?
Send your current setup and one real example of the flow you need. We'll tell you whether it can be done and what it would take.
