Shopify Flow integration

Describe your setup ↗

What Shopify Flow is

Shopify Flow is Shopify's own automation app. A workflow runs when something happens in the store, checks conditions and takes actions: tagging, updating data, notifying staff or calling other apps.

How Ecom Majesty works with Shopify Flow

On a PC store with 60+ product metafields, we used Flow to keep filter data in step with product specifications, so collections filter correctly without anyone editing tags by hand. Every workflow starts as a written rule (when this happens, if that is true, do this, and undo it when it stops being true) and is tested on repeated and incomplete data before it runs on real orders.

What we configure

  • Each workflow written as a rule before it's built
  • Rules for removing tags and data, not only adding them
  • Tests for repeated events and missing data
  • A way to switch each workflow off safely

Ways to set it up

  • Built in

    Shopify Flow

Free from Shopify on current plans. Some triggers, actions and limits depend on your plan and on the apps connected to Flow.

  • Custom build

    Custom app or webhook

For logic Flow can't express, or volumes it shouldn't handle, a custom app reacts to the same events.

Where these projects go wrong

  • Workflows add tags but never remove them, so filters and segments drift.
  • Two workflows act on the same event and undo each other.
  • Workflows touching orders or stock are switched on without testing.
  • Nobody knows which workflows exist or what they do.

Our experience

We have delivered Shopify Flow work in client Shopify projects. Your setup still gets checked before we quote.

Questions

Is Shopify Flow free?
Shopify offers Flow as a free app on its plans. Some actions and limits depend on the plan.
When is Flow not enough?
When the logic needs data from outside Shopify, complex calculations, or high volumes. Then a custom app is more reliable.

Before we scope the work

  • Which data or customer journey needs to connect, and which system owns it?
  • What access, plan features or API permissions are available?
  • Does an existing connector cover the requirement, including failures and updates?
  • Who will maintain the connection, and how will you know it is working?

Send your current setup and one real example of the flow you need. We'll tell you whether it can be done and what it would take.
