Prismic connects to Shopify through integration fields: a Shopify catalog syncs product data so editors can pick products inside a page. We set up the catalog with a read-only Shopify app, add the fields to your content model, and fetch live product data on render. Metafields don't come through, so we plan for that from the start.

Where these projects go wrong

• Integration fields aren't added through Slice Machine; they're added by editing the model's JSON.
• The integration fields feature may need Prismic to switch it on for the repository.
• Product metafields don't come through the catalog, so pages need a second fetch for them.
• Catalog sync errors go unnoticed; check the sync status in Prismic's settings.

Does Prismic sync Shopify metafields?

Not through the catalog, according to Prismic's community answers. We fetch metafields from Shopify separately when a page needs them.

Is Prismic right for a Shopify store?

It suits teams that publish a lot of editorial or campaign content and have developers. For a few landing pages, Shopify's theme editor is often enough.
