Contentsquare + Shopify integration
- Analytics
- UX Monitoring
Connecting Contentsquare to Shopify comes down to three decisions: which data moves, which system owns it, and whether an existing connector is enough.
Describe your setup ↗What Contentsquare is
Contentsquare is a digital experience analytics platform: journey analysis, zone-based heatmaps, session replay and AI summaries of where visitors struggle.
How we would approach Contentsquare with Shopify
Contentsquare's own Shopify app is now the recommended install, and it covers storefront and checkout pages, with more checkout detail on Shopify Plus. We install it, remove any older tag or custom pixel so data isn't doubled, map your domains to projects, and set up the zones and goals that answer your current conversion question.
What the work involves
- Official app installed and old tags or pixels removed
- Domains mapped to the right Contentsquare projects
- Zones and goals for product, cart and checkout steps
- Masking and consent checked before data collection
Ways to connect Contentsquare and Shopify
Where these projects go wrong
- The app and an old custom pixel both run, so checkout data is doubled.
- Third-party "easy install" apps only add the tag to the theme and miss checkout.
- Expecting checkout replay on a store that isn't on Shopify Plus.
- Recording without a question, so the data is never acted on.
Our experience
We haven't delivered a Contentsquare project for a client yet. This page is how we would approach one, and we check access and platform limits before quoting.
Questions
- Can Contentsquare track Shopify checkout?
- Through its official app, yes, with more detail on Shopify Plus. Check what your Contentsquare plan includes.
- Contentsquare or Microsoft Clarity?
- Clarity is free and covers recordings and heatmaps. Contentsquare adds journey analysis, zone metrics and enterprise features. Larger teams with many sites tend to need the latter.
Before we scope the work
- Which data or customer journey needs to connect, and which system owns it?
- What access, plan features or API permissions are available?
- Does an existing connector cover the requirement, including failures and updates?
- Who will maintain the connection, and how will you know it is working?
Send your current setup and one real example of the flow you need. We'll tell you whether it can be done and what it would take.
